Opening
When you first land on foreign soil, the adrenaline convinces you that you are there to conquer. You look out at the horizon and think of the empires you are going to build.
But then the sun sets. You wake up the next morning in a room where you don't speak the language outside your window. The noise of your past is gone, and the silence of the present sets in. And in that silence, you realize something both terrifying and beautiful.
No matter how highly you think of yourself... you are simply a nobody amidst the vastness of the world.
In the Philippines, I had titles. I was the CEO. The Founder. The Boss. The Provider. Even at my lowest, I was the Victim.
But here in Brazil? I am just a speck. I am entirely…
It is a humbling realization. The world will continue spinning without me. No matter how grand my ideas are, someone out there has a more profound one. Every time you think you've discovered something new, someone else has already
implemented it. Not everything is about you. You are just one small particle in the universe.
But being a small particle doesn't mean you don't have a purpose. It just means you have to find your core before you try to change the world.
The most difficult territory to map isn't a foreign country. It is your own soul. We spend so much time studying markets, studying businesses, and studying other people, that we completely miss discovering ourselves. And when you don't know who you are, it is incredibly easy to mistreat yourself.
Brazil is a breathtaking place. Enjoyment and temptation are everywhere. It is a vibrant, fancy, loud environment. But if you do not know who you are, you will easily get lost in the maze of it all.
Yes, I came here to build. Yes, I came here to realize my dreams. But I cannot make things happen here unless I am deeply anchored to my true self.
Coming to Brazil wasn't just about discovering the opportunities this country offers. It was a reboot. It was a necessary pause to rediscover the true colors of my own spirit.
Before I open myself up to new business, new people, and new events... I have to nurture the foundation. I have to make sure that whatever I build next, the richness of my soul will never be compromised again.
Tomorrow, we are going to look at the cracks in that foundation... and realize why we shouldn't try to hide them.
